The Geropsychiatry Inpatient Unit offers assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute emotional distress in an inpatient setting for individuals who are age 55 or older. Patients are admitted with signs and symptoms of depression, psychosis, mania, and/or dementia, accompanied by difficult to manage behavior. Since many older adults have physical health problems, the Program is designed to concurrently care for accompanying chronic medical problems while ensuring the patient's confidentiality. Patients must meet admission criteria. Confidential assessments, guidance, and referrals are also provided. The Geropsychiatry Inpatient Program is located on the hospital campus, 4th Floor. A multidisciplinary treatment team of geriatric psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinical therapists.
