The Geropsychiatry Inpatient Unit offers assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute emotional distress in an inpatient setting for individuals who are age 55 or older. Patients are admitted with signs and symptoms of depression, psychosis, mania, and/or dementia, accompanied by difficult to manage behavior. Since many older adults have physical health problems, the Program is designed to concurrently care for accompanying chronic medical problems while ensuring the patient's confidentiality. Patients must meet admission criteria. Confidential assessments, guidance, and referrals are also provided. The Geropsychiatry Inpatient Program is located on the hospital campus, 4th Floor.

Services: Our community reentry program consists of case management, residential services, vocational rehabilitation, substance abuse evaluation and addiction counseling. We provide coordination of care for transportation needs, psychological services, nursing, speech, recreational, physical and occupational therapies. Havenwyck Hospital, Inc. is a full-service private psychiatric hospital with 150 licensed inpatient beds (120 psychiatric and 30 residential). Located on Galloway Lake, in Auburn Hills, Havenwyck offers inpatient adult psychiatry (including dual diagnosis treatment, inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry and day (partial) hospital programs for children, adolescents and adults. Programming is sub-specialized by developmental age groups: children (ages 4-9), intermediate children (ages 10-13), adolescents (ages 14-17) young adults (ages 18-24), adults and geriatrics. In addition, the hospital is licensed by the State of Michigan Center for Substance Abuse Services and offers specialized programs, including women's, spiritual, trauma and dissociative disorders, caring disorders and dual diagnosis programs (primary psychiatric diagnosis). An immediate assessment program offers 24-hour emergency access to the facility. Havenwyck Center is a 30 bed residential program for emotionally/behaviorally disturbed adolescents (ages 10-18). The program, uses a family empowerment model and is a licensed Family Independence Agency child caring institution. The Hospital is contracted with the Oakland County Community Mental Health Board for inpatient and day hospital services for children and adults. Havenwyck participates with more than 120 managed health care entities and is the leading psychiatric hospital in Michigan (measured by admissions per year). Jewish Family Service provides social and mental health services to adults, children and families. Areas of focus include parent and child concerns, blended family issues, grief counseling, addiction recovery services, pre and post-divorce counseling, and domestic abuse/dating violence counseling and shelter. JFS also provides a full line of support services for older adults, including assessments/evaluations, case management and elder care planning. The agency is CARF accredited and accepts Medicare and most major insurances. JFS welcomes people from all religious and ethnic backgrounds.

New Oakland Child-Adolescent and Family Center is an outpatient and partial hospitalization psychiatric clinic providing services to children, adolescents, adults and families. New Oakland's executive medical director is a board certified child-adolescent and general psychiatrist. The facility is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. In addition to traditional outpatient services, New Oakland also offers a non-traditional, non-hospital based day and evening crisis intervention program entitled "Family Empowerment in Face to Face--Seven Step Approach" along with 24-hour crisis stabilization and in-home treatment. New Oakland is a fully licensed substance abuse treatment facility with a specialization in dual diagnosis. Therapeutic staff include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, clinical nurse specialists and bachelor level milieu counselors. Appointments are available six days a week and most insurances are accepted.
