The Geropsychiatry Inpatient Unit offers assessment, diagnosis, and
treatment of acute emotional distress in an inpatient setting for
individuals who are age 55 or older. Patients are admitted with signs
and symptoms of depression, psychosis, mania, and/or dementia, accompanied
by difficult to manage behavior. Since many older adults have physical
health problems, the Program is designed to concurrently care for
accompanying chronic medical problems while ensuring the patient's
confidentiality. Patients must meet admission criteria. Confidential
assessments, guidance, and referrals are also provided. The Geropsychiatry
Inpatient Program is located on the hospital campus, 4th Floor.

Havenwyck Hospital, Inc. is a full-service private psychiatric
hospital with 150 licensed inpatient beds (120 psychiatric and 30
residential). Located on Galloway Lake, in Auburn Hills, Havenwyck
offers inpatient adult psychiatry (including dual diagnosis treatment,
inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry and day (partial) hospital
programs for children, adolescents and adults. Programming is sub-specialized
by developmental age groups: children (ages 4-9), intermediate children
(ages 10-13), adolescents (ages 14-17) young adults (ages 18-24),
adults and geriatrics. In addition, the hospital is licensed by the
State of Michigan Center for Substance Abuse Services and offers specialized
programs, including women's, spiritual, trauma and dissociative disorders,
caring disorders and dual diagnosis programs (primary psychiatric
diagnosis). An immediate assessment program offers 24-hour emergency
access to the facility. Havenwyck Center is a 30 bed residential program
for emotionally/behaviorally disturbed adolescents (ages 10-18). The
program, uses a family empowerment model and is a licensed Family
Independence Agency child caring institution. The Hospital is contracted
with the Oakland County Community Mental Health Board for inpatient
and day hospital services for children and adults. Havenwyck participates
with more than 120 managed health care entities and is the leading
psychiatric hospital in Michigan (measured by admissions per year).

Family Empowerment in FACE to FACE - A Seven Step Approach is a short
term crisis intervention program which provides assessment, intensive
treatment, psychological testing and substance abuse counseling in
a less costly, lets disruptive non-hospital setting, FACE to FACE
has been successfully treating those with a wide variety of psychiatric
disorders including those disorders previously thought to require
hospitalization. Our treatment modalities are individualized. FACE
to FACE also provides specialty programming for ADHD/Learning Disability
testing, Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, and Enuresis.
The continuum of care at New Oakland also includes intensive outpatient
and traditional outpatient as well as psychiatric evaluation and support
along with medication management.
